The COVID-19 did not cope with rail logistics from China - the volume of traffic increased significantly in February in annual terms. Railway trains became an alternative in a situation where there was a shortage of truck drivers, there was a large-scale load at airports, and there were regular supply interruptions in maritime traffic.
The other day, China Railway, a railway company of China, calculated the figures for the volume of traffic and reported that in February 2020 the volume amounted to 310 million tons, which is 4.5% higher than last year.
And despite the difficulties, China over the past month loaded and dispatched 171,000 wagons, which is 5,000 more than last year. The growth of container traffic was + 39.5%, and even more scheduled cargo flights are scheduled to resume in March.
The good news is that with regards to the logistics of the last and first mile, in large cities, trucks are operating normally, which means that now it is possible to deliver goods to terminals and warehouses and deliver imported goods to consignees in China.
In the context of the epidemic, the railway mode of transport turned out to be the safest, most reliable and profitable for business, and most importantly, the most efficient - the average speed of delivery of goods from China was about 15 days.
